Beinn Mhor - A brief interlude from the water of life

Despite the best intentions this was the only of Islay's Marilyns I managed to climb. A combination of mixed weather, meeting family & other distractions (distilleries) meant my short stay on Islay did not produce many walks!

Starting from the RSPB car park near Upper Killeyan a waymarked route led to the American Monument...

Trig & the impressive American Monument, it can be seen from Port Charlotte...

to the soldiers & sailors who lost their lives on the Tuscania & Otranto transport ships...

coastline to Beinn Mhor which I skirted...

descending to Port nan Gallan...

Port nan Gallan probably deserves a better look if time allowed...

the climb up was intially wet & boggy giving way to heather...

Sgeirean Buidhe is the site of Dun Athad its defensive qualities are obvious...

trig on Beinn Mhor...

and back to the American Monument...

I retraced my steps back to Upper Killeyan & the car.
