Solway sunset on two wheels

Out of all the hills in the Lakes, the Caldbeck & Uldale Fells are probably considered the poor cousins to the other ranges. The views of the Scottish Coast over the Solway are hardly the most dramatic that Scotland has to offer, but one of the best times to view are at sunset - especially on two wheels

Climbing High Pike from Fellside, the sun getting low in the sky...

late evening glow at High Pike...

the sun dropping below Knott's horizon...

last light, Great Sca Fell...

just about there...

Little Sca Fell, picking out the route down Charleton Gill...

  1. I love the views across to Dumfries & Galloway from that area, especially Criffel. Funny how, although I usually get cr*p weather in Scotland, whenever I'm looking at it from Cumbria it looks great!

    Love that last shot...

  2. Criffel & Nithsdale both seem to get much better weather than the Lakes, I'm not sure if its that old 'grass is greener' addage!!
