Keskadale Circuit - Robinson & Co.

The Newlands Valley is amongst my favourites in the lakes and is home to the popular Newlands Horseshoe, but a smaller often overlooked horseshoe can be made of Robinson and the two smaller Wainwrights of Knott Rigg & Ard Crags.

Robinson & High Snab Bank...

Little Dale...

a steep staircase...

High Snab Bank, a fine ridge leads to Robinson...

the three small scrambles...

at the foot of the first...

the dog waits at the bottom of the second...

the view down Little Dale opens up...

the third & final scramble...

High Snab Bank points towards Keswick...

Hindscarth...

views from Robinson's summit open up over Rannerdale Kotts to Loweswater...

looking back at Robinson over the horrid Buttermere Moss...

Keskadale...

Moss Force...

a sharp pull lands you on the ridge to Knott Rigg...

Knott Rigg's summit cairn...

the ridge continues, looking back to Knott Rigg...

and to Ard Crags...

narrows slightly before the summit...

Ard Crags summit is also poorly marked...

steep descent...

fine views up Keskadale to Robinson...

a distant Ard Crags from Rigg Beck...

  1. Have you been up that path at the side of Moss Force? I had a go once but found it a bit polished and smooth and was on my own so chickened out!

  2. Do you mean the tourist track to the falls ? I can remember having a look many years ago but I can't really remember what the path was like! I often 'think' too much when I'm by myself, its amazing how much more confidence you find when you have company.
    Thanks Simon
